About Danielle

Hometown: Cascade, Idaho.

Zodiac Sign: The new one – Ophiuchus.

Nicknames: Dani and Ellis, though you have to have known me since birth to call me Ellis.

Interests: I'm a jack of many trades but the master of none. So my interests dabble in the same way, a little food, a little craft, a little walk, a little science – I like to keep it balanced.

Pet peeves: Standing room shows. Girl is TIRED and needs to sit if the headliner shows up at midnight.

Color of choice: I was a tomboy growing up so now I can't get enough of cotton candy pink.

Personal hero: My mom, my sisters, and my grandma – amazing women in completely different and equally round-house-kick ways.

Secret addiction: Bad sci-fi/fantasy/comic-book-like television shows. I mean, I have seen all of Angel and that show was reeeeeeally terrible.

Weird fact: My girlfriends and I invented a green sewage treatment device in high school. We called ourselves the Sewage Sisters.

Favorite foods: Does butter count as a food? If not, butter on bread, butter on kale, butter on radishes, and butter on steaks.

Favorite family activity: We love going down to the market. Roo it tickled by all of the people and music and bustle.

Favorite Mom-friendly brand: Full Circle Farm. They deliver local organic produce to your door once a week for a very reasonable price. Not only does it cut my grocery shopping time in half and inspire me to eat new things (Hellooooo celery root. Where were you all my life?) we actually eat the recommended daily amount of fruits and veggies now.

Hi, I'm Danielle Gahl. I'm the Verity Mom, the voice of Seattle's moms.

Why are you excited to be the VerityMom?

I am excited to be the new Verity Mom because being a mom, collecting and researching new ideas and helping others is my bag. I love the idea of being part of such a rich source of ideas and wisdom.

Why do you think this initiative is important?

This initiative is so important because moms are a little like the Greek goddess Vesta. She was the one that kept the fire on Mount Olympus burning so the other gods could galavant around. She gave her throne to Dionysus and we never hear stories about her. But she was always there, in the background, quietly making the whole shabang possible. Having a Verity Mom is important because if we need to hear any voice, it is the one that isn't shouting for itself.
